About the trainee program

LKAB is facing the biggest change in our 130-year history that could be the largest industrial investment ever in Sweden. By creating a new world standard for mining and by shifting from iron ore pellets to carbon dioxide-free iron fungus, unique opportunities are created for us and the Swedish industry to take the lead in a necessary global transformation. On this journey, we need committed, innovative and responsible employees. As a trainee at LKAB, you get the best possible transition from studies to working life and can contribute to our exciting transition and a carbon dioxide-free LKAB.

The program, which is in English, starts in September 2022 and lasts for nine months. As a trainee, you will gain a deep understanding of our products, processes, operations and our business through workplace internships and training. You are offered a permanent employment from start with placement at one of our operations in Kiruna, Svappavaara or Malmberget.

You will get your own mentor, meet many of our employees and visit many of our workplaces to create an understanding of our culture and how all roles are connected. The tasks are varied, and you will be involved in several different projects during the trainee period. Your personal development and a gained insight into how your career can develop is important to us. At the end of the program, it is possible to visit one of our foreign businesses.

This is what we are looking for

For you to thrive with us, you should share our passion for creating a sustainable future. You are curious, committed and have a will to develop. You are a team player who likes to collaborate in different teams and projects and is fluent in English, both speech and writing.

We welcome trainees with different educational backgrounds, and we are looking for engineers in most areas of technology, graduate economists and you who have an academic education with a focus on work environment, environment and sustainability.

You shall have completed your bachelor's or master's education within the last two years. For you who are studying an ongoing education, the expected degree must be no later than June 2022.

In the selection process, we look at a combination of your experiences, interests, personal qualities, and education/degree. As a part of the process, we use tests, cases, and interviews, which mainly take place digitally.
