R&D Sustaining's responsibility is to develop and improve our current Liko product portfolio. This means leading various projects with the goals of increasing customer satisfaction, increasing product quality, optimizing product design, and strengthening the competitiveness of our products. The engineers at R&D are a team of experts and support the production, quality department and other functions with their technical expertise and product knowledge.


A patient lift such as the Liko Golvo™ patient lift needs to have a leg widening system to be able to fit through door openings but also to be able to straddle around wide objects such as a wheelchair.

The Golvo™ has a parallel moving type of leg widening system that is unique on the market with many benefits.

The drawback with this system is that it does not have capacity to operate up to more than around 70% of the lifting capacity of the lift.

It is a market request for the leg widening system to be able to operate at the same max load as the lift capacity.


Design and dimension a design concept solution for the leg widening system that can operate at max load with good margin for different floor types

Estimated Duration and compensation

30 hp starting by agreement.

An economic compensation will be handed out after the thesis is complete.
