Cyber Security Test Engineer

SKF is spearheading the green transition in the bearing business. Here in the north, we are developing and maintaining software, firmware, and hardware solutions for the industry in condition monitoring which aids the green transition. Our IoT solutions provide detailed health information and actionable insights about our customers’ machinery to foresee failures and prevent downtime. We are now combining our experience with the latest technology in our next big initiative to develop the next-generation condition monitoring ecosystem.


Key responsibilities

You will be responsible for protecting the organization’s products against cyber threats through the design and implementation of tests and by ensuring to meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements. You will achieve this by:

  • Designing and implementing cyber security test systems.
  • Perform cyber security testing as part of the product development cycle, i.e., penetration testing and vulnerability scans.
  • Conduct cyber security risk assessments on our products.
  • Perform security testing and investigations in the event of cyber security issues being detected with our products in the field.
  • Provide written records of cyber security test results and investigations to the organization.
  • Maintain test equipment and software used for security testing.
  • Develop procedures and best practices for security testing and train colleagues on their applications.


We expect you to have

  • A university degree, preferably in computer science, cyber security, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a cyber security engineer, test engineer, or similar role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of cyber security risks associated with digital product security and technologies.
  • Knowledge of test tools, technologies, and methods.
  • Experience in network security protocol, security architecture, and IP networking.
  • Experience in agile development.
  • No problem articulating yourself in English.
  • An openness for occasional travel if needed for specific activities.

  • Linux, Kali, OpenWRT
  • Python, scripting language
  • ADO, GIT, GITHUB, Wireshark, BURP Suite, Nessus, MobSF, Btljack
  • WiFi, BLE, LTE, Ethernet, eMMC, Wireless mesh networks
  • MQTT, Modbus TCP, OPC UA, Uboot, Firmware “over the air” updates
  • Knowledge of standards, ex. EN18031-2, ETSI, RED, CSA, IEC 62443

Additional information for you

Location: SKF Office in Luleå, Sweden. This office employs about 65 people. At SKF Luleå Development Center we develop industry-leading systems for Condition Monitoring.

You will be reporting to Tersius Venter, Group Leader Test Engineering.
