This position reports to Project Operations Manager

Your role and responsibilities

  • Local Business Line Mining within ABB Process Industries division are supporting customers with automation, electrification and digitalization projects and services in the industry segments Mining but also new segments coming up because of the on-going transformation to a more sustainable industry. There are several planned and on-going investments in the Swedish market right now where you can truly make an impact on the journey towards a more sustainable society while growing and developing as a professional.
  • As a Project Operations Manager you will be responsible for all project execution activities within the Mining segment and ensure that operations are executed in accordance with customer expectations, company procedures, relevant cyber security regulations and standards, contract specifications, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, financial targets, and schedule commitments.
  • You will also be leading a team of Project Managers, ensuring successful project execution ranging from system upgrades to greenfield projects. You will be collaborating closely with various stakeholders, such as Engineering, Quality, Sales, and Procurement, ensuring that not only existing portfolio will meet the targets, but also verify that the projects in sales pipeline will follow the ABB estimation and pricing principles.
  • You will support both Operations and Project Managers and operationally, as needed, participating in discussions with end customers, suppliers and various partners, ensuring that all project activities align with customer expectations and corporate policies and procedures.
  • You will also collaborate with our global Mining organization to ensure we leverage the full breadth and depth of ABB's expertise to help our customers in their transition.

  • Your responsibilities:
  • Accountable for the local management of all project execution activities in Local business line Mining.
  • Participate in the budgeting process, jointly with Local Business Line Manager and Controller. Participate in Sales and Operations planning with other members of the Local Business Line management team and take actions to close potential gaps in project execution capability and capacity.
  • Lead the Swedish project management team, developing the team competences, and nurturing professional growth of your team members.
  • Maintain and develop project management office processes, ensuring scalability.
  • Ensure the project portfolio meets financial, quality and safety targets, and projects are completed on time, and monitoring that projects are efficiently resourced from project start to customer acceptance.
  • Cooperate with various stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution, cooperating with class societies, and participate in customer negotiations.
  • Ensure ABB standards and regulations are followed during project execution.
  • Contribute to project sales, verify delivery scope, project budgeting, scheduling, and resourcing for execution.
  • Report financial progress and forecast future financials for the current project portfolio as well as drive efficiency and effectiveness and improve cash flow, revenue, and profitability.

Qualifications for the role

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technology or manufacturing industry, working as a Senior Project Manager, PMO Manager, Operations Manager, or equivalent.
  • Experience from Mining or other similar process industries is meriting.
  • A B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in the field of engineering, preferably in electrical/automation, or other equivalent certification.
  • Strong and demonstrated understanding of project portfolio financials, and demonstrated experience working with operational management, enterprise resource planning and standard operating procedures.
  • A collaborative, unprompted and solution-focused working style.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently under pressure. Proven ability to drive performance in individuals and teams.
  • Fluent written and spoken communication skills in English and Swedish language.
  • A valid EU Work Permit is a must.
