Gemkom Engineering and Machinery Filial is a newly established branch of the Turkish company Gemkom. It is a leading engineering and manufacturing company that operates in a number of areas and in various ways within the steel industry.

We are participating in a project where Stegra AB establishes a steel mill in Norra Svartbyn in Boden where steel will be produced through an almost fossil-free process using hydrogen gas. Our mission is, among other things, to install machines used in steel production and includes work in mechanics, electronics and plumbing.

We now want to employ Mechanical Fitters. The work tasks may include but are not limited to:

Job Description

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Assemble and install mechanical components, including rotary and static equipment, piping, conveyors, vessels, and storage tanks.
  • Perform fitting, alignment, and adjustments to ensure proper functioning of mechanical systems.
  • Use hand and power tools to cut, shape, and fit metal components.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of mechanical systems.
  • Ensure compliance with industry safety regulations and best practices.
  • Work closely with mechanical engineers, supervisors, and other team members to meet project deadlines.

Desirable qualifications (not mandatory)

  • 5 years of experience in mechanical fitting for steel production plants, DRI plants, power & heat, oil & gas, or petrochemical projects.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, components, and installation techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Skilled in using hand and power tools for cutting, grinding, and assembling mechanical components.
  • Experience in working with rotating and static equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety guidelines and industry standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in industrial environments.
