Research shows that women and other under-represented groups within our industry hesitate to apply unless they tick most boxes of a role description. At Stegra, we are building an impact company with sustainability at its core. We need a diverse, inclusive, and authentic team to rally behind our purpose of de-carbonizing hard-to-abate industries, starting with steel. So, if you are equally passionate about our purpose yet concerned that your experience doesn’t perfectly align with the qualifications stated in the job advert, we strongly encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate, either for this role – or for another upcoming role in our rapidly growing business.
About us:
Stegra is on a mission to disrupt the global steel industry by producing green steel, with the end goal of bringing down CO2 emissions to zero. By using green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity instead of coal; water and heat will be our primary emissions. By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitalized, and sustainable plant in Boden, located in northern Sweden - currently in construction phase. But this is just the beginning – our expertise in green hydrogen will enable us to decarbonize other industries in addition to steel, and we look forward to what’s next in store for us.
We are looking for talented, innovative, and purpose-driven people to join our rapidly growing and diverse team. Our employees get to learn everyday, implement the latest technology and test and put their ideas into practice. Together, we are building an impact company with sustainability at its core – for our people, customers, investors, society, and planet. DevOps Engineer
Right now, we are looking for Software Developers with a DevOps focus for our Digital team. In this role you will report to our Digital Domain Manager and sit within our Digital function. The team is responsible for building and maintaining the digital foundation that powers our operations—from infrastructure and architecture to software delivery and automation.
Responsibilities:
- Write production-ready code as part of a cross-functional development team
- Lead the DevOps work in your team, including CI/CD, infrastructure and automation
- Design and manage secure, scalable cloud environments (AWS, Azure)
- Implement monitoring, logging and observability solutions
- Collaborate with developers, architects and stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Promote best practices in DevOps and help enable fast, secure, and reliable software delivery
- Support a mix of cloud-native and on-premise systems tailored for industrial use
In this role, you’ll be part of a modern, cloud-native environment where infrastructure is code, and automation is key. Our stack includes tools like GitLab, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Snowflake, and we build with scalability, flexibility, and long-term impact in mind.
Qualifications:
You’re curious, driven, and believe that real progress happens when we work together. You’re not afraid to challenge old ways of thinking—and you treat others with respect while doing it. At Stegra, we value people who take initiative, build trust, and help create a workplace where everyone can do their best. Specific to this role, we would like to see that you can tick off a fair amount of the boxes below:
- Experience in backend development (Java, Kotlin or similar)
- Hands-on with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub Actions or Jenkins
- Cloud experience in AWS, Azure or GCP
- Infrastructure as code expertise (e.g. Terraform, Helm)
- Understanding of monitoring, logging and observability tools (e.g. ELK, Prometheus)
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across teams and with stakeholders
- Bonus: Experience from industrial systems, on-prem setups or security tooling (e.g. Keycloak, WAF, SIEM)
Location: Boden, Sweden
What we can offer you
If you are passionate about making actual change and having a positive impact on society and our planet, Stegra offers a unique opportunity to be part of a fun and professional team with high ambitions.
Here’s what makes this role unique:
- Breadth, not silos: You’ll work across multiple technical areas—backend, architecture, infrastructure, DevOps and data—gaining deep understanding of our digital ecosystem.
- Ownership from day one: You’ll support a specific domain and act as a bridge between operations and tech, and drive solutions all the way from need to implementation and iteration.
- Close to the action: You’ll collaborate closely with stakeholders, understand their workflows, and ensure your digital solutions create real value in their day-to-day operations.
