At SSC we enable our customers to make better use of space. Through the efforts of our nearly 600 employees around the world, we provide specialized competence in design, test, launch and operation of space and air systems. The Science Services Division launch rockets and balloons mainly from Esrange Space Center. Scientific and technical tests are also conducted at the site. We also develop rocket and balloon systems including experiment equipment for microgravity research.

YOUR ROLE
As a Range Safety Officer you will be responsible for the overall safety at Esrange Space Center. You’ll ensure we maintain safe operations and that safety is implemented in accordance to Esrange Safety Manual. You will have close collaboration with the flight safety and ground safety functions, working with our safety systems and their critical parameters for safety operations including trajectory and risk calculations.

 

WHO YOU ARE

• To enjoy this position you are interested in leadership and like to work with people and see them grow.
• We believe you have an academic degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• You have a good judgement and can maintain logical thinking and make difficult decisions under high pressure.
• You have strong analytical skills together with your ability to communicate with clear messages.
• It is seen as an extra merit if you have experience from safety work at high safety facilities and/or experience of modelling of rocket and balloon trajectories.

LOCATION
We offer a permanent position with normal working hours daytime 40h/week. As part of our team you will take part in rocket and balloon campaigns which are scheduled outside normal working hours.

Your main workplace will be at Esrange Space Center in Kiruna, however work at other locations may also occur during campaigns.

Esrange Space Center is the launch and operations facility of SSC, located outside Kiruna in the north of Sweden. At Esrange we have excellent launching facilities and we provide services to scientists and space organizations worldwide.
