The LKAB Exploration Department is seeking a Senior or Principal Resource Geologist to act as Competent Person on behalf of the company regarding the annual reporting of Mineral Resources according to PERC(2021) with a focus on iron ore deposits.

The position includes the managing of a team of resource and database geologists. The Exploration Department is in an expansive phase with responsibility for the supply of Mineral Resources to our underground and surface mines in Malmberget, Kiruna and Svappavaara, as well as for greenfield exploration.

As a Competent Person, you will be responsible for leading the work with annual reporting of exploration results and Mineral Resources within the company, together with close liaison for the conversion to Mineral Reserves. You would also be responsible for assisting in work to develop the process and methodology for PERC reporting within the company. You will be working on projects from an early exploration stage onwards.

The position includes managing a team of geologists who are specialized in geodata management and resource estimation. You will be expected to independently lead the team in accordance with exploration assignments and business orientation. Responsibilities within working environment, budgeting, reporting as well as development of the team and its members are included.

You will be based in either Kiruna or Malmberget and travel will be a natural part of the job. We offer an interesting and dynamic workplace with opportunities for development and challenging duties.

This is a permanent position.

Qualifications

We are looking for a Senior or Principal Resource Geologist with a BSc or higher degree and a minimum of 15 years’ experience, preferably within both exploration and mining. Experience of technical reporting according to international standards, preferably PERC.  

As a person you should be both responsible and driven, but also perceptive and flexible. You possess good leadership qualities with a focus on building relationships. You have a genuine interest in mentoring and helping people grow and you are happy to share your knowledge with others.

Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities. We are happy to see that you have completed some leadership training and/or experience of leading people.

A Driving license is a requirement for the position.

You must be able to express yourself well both in written and spoken English. Preferably also Swedish but if not, we want you to be eager to learn.
