LKAB are aiming to be the first company in the world to produce 100% carbon dioxide free iron. Our hydrogen-based reduction technology is being developed in partnership with SSAB and Vattenfall under the name Hybrit Development AB. We have built a hydrogen reduction pilot plant in Luleå where our R&D is taking place and we are right now heavily focusing to develop and construct our first large scale production plant in Gällivare.

The first plant will produce 1,3Mton of Iron annually by 2027 with a need of more than 70 000 ton H2/year. In total, by 2045, the capacity will be over 20Mton of DRI with a hydrogen need of more than one million tons of hydrogen. The challenge is vast and therefore we need to strengthen our hydrogen production skills.

The department for Technology & Energy with its new section Energy & Hydrogen has the mission to organize and develop a team with energy and hydrogen competence needed to transform LKAB from conventional production methods of iron oxide, using fossil fuels. To our future production of iron, using hydrogen.

Job description

As a hydrogen production engineer, you will be involved in the development and procurement of electrolysis techniques and facilities. You will have a key role in setting up requirements and to dimension our hydrogen production plants. You will also be part of setting up safety standards, working methods, and methodologies to optimize the production of hydrogen in our plants.

We are looking for highly motivated individuals with experience from the hydrogen sector and with a passion for technology development and CO2 transformation.

You will be based in Gällivare, Kiruna, Svappavaara, Luleå or Stockholm.

Qualifications

We are looking for both for experienced senior engineers and young talents.

You have an academic degree in natural sciences or technical engineering with emphasis on energy, hydrogen, gaseous fuels or similar.

Experience from the hydrogen and/or electrolysis business is meritorious, such as experience from the energy sector.

You work well independently , in workgroups and in project groups.

For all positions at LKAB we require a driving license.
