We hope that you will help us to build the sustainable companies and societies of the future.The Robotics & AI Group at Luleå University of Technology is seeking a motivated Senior Research Engineer with a focus on software and hardware development for autonomous robots. The Robotics & AI Group is involved in numerous field-oriented projects, requiring a versatile and proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Project description
You will join an excellent team and collaborate with a diverse group of people working in the field of Robotics and AI.
Duties
• Translating MATLAB code to Python/C++.
• Setting up simulation environments for different use cases.
• Develop and optimize software for robotic systems using Python and C++.
• Work with ROS (Robot Operating System) for robot control, navigation, and perception.
• Integrate hardware and software components for real-time robotic applications and ROS.
• Providing support during experiments both in the lab and on the field.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to improve system performance.
• Perform soldering and maintenance of robots.
• Help manage electrical parts inventory and laboratory equipment.
• Help maintain and upgrade laboratory equipment.
Qualifications
• Holds a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Robotics/Electrical/Software or equivalent educational background in relevant subjects.
• Proficiency in Python and C++ for robotic applications.
• Strong experience with ROS (ROS1 or ROS2).
• Good knowledge of MATLAB for simulation and analysis.
• Familiarity with robotic perception, control, and kinematics.
• Experience with Linux environments and version control (Git).
• Hands-on experience with building robots and low voltage electrical systems.
• Willingness to travel and adapt quickly to new challenges.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Additional qualifications (preferable)
• B driving license (EU)
• Drone pilot permit (EU)
• Knowledge of AI/ML applications in robotics.
• Familiarity with hardware interfaces, sensors, and actuators.
Further information
Fulltime time position for 12 months. Starting: as soon as possible or upon agreement. Placement Luleå.
