We are now looking for a R&D (Research and Development) Sustaining Engineering Manager. As R&D Sustaining Engineering Manager in Luleå you report to the Director R&D Sustaining who is stationed in Batesville, US, and you will be a part of our global R&D organization.

The Sustaining Engineering department is responsible for developing and improving our current product portfolio. The Sustaining Engineering department is responsible to lead projects with the goal of increasing customer satisfaction, improving product quality, optimize the product design to strengthen our competition. The Sustaining Engineering department are experts in product knowledge. We support the operations team and quality department with our technical skills and knowledge about our products.

About the position

As the R&D Manager you will be responsible our R&D department in Alvik, Luleå. You will be manager of 8 employees and responsible for leading the team and for managing daily operational activities. In this position you are accountable for alignment of priorities and resources with business direction, timelines, and budget commitments.

Main responsibilities:

- Assess resources or team strengths and weaknesses and develop plans to achieve individual/team/department goals and objectives.

- Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate department/function.

- Allocate resources and time required to conduct several engineering projects and monitor the performance of these projects to ensure milestones are met.

- Uses real-time data and key business metrics to reassess priorities and realign goals.

- Managerial, work environment and budget responsibilities.

We work according LEAN- principles and our OMS (Operative Management System). We focus on continuous improvements and have a problem-solving culture. We welcome problems, because when we identify problems; we can improve.

What is your background

You understand team-contribution to the larger organization and to the business strategy. Ability to manage people-related processes successfully and consistently such as performance management, compensation, talent development, talent acquisition, onboarding, etc.

You also:

  • Have a Master of science in Engineering in a technical discipline.
  • Have worked in a project focused organization and in a technical discipline.
  • Have at least 5 years of experience as a manager.
  • Speak and write Swedish and English fluently.
